These dependable roofing products are the industry standards and comprise most of the roofing installations today.

Composition Asphalt Shingles

• Lightweight, relatively even surface to walk on, and they rarely crack, break or be come unfastened from the roof deck
• Less expensive to apply in relationship to other products and similar in performance
• Greatest variety of colors

Currently in Santa Clara County, asphalt shingle installations comprise about 75% of all roof replacements.

Light weight Concrete and Clay Tiles

• Variety of shapes and designs including popular Spanish and Mediterranean styles
• Made in both standard weight and lightweight constructs
• Priced slightly less than quality wood shakes but higher than composite asphalt shingles

Tile installations consist of approximately 15 % of the market.

Wood Shake Shingles

• Lightweight, natural-looking roof surface
• Treated with fire retardant, three different levels to choose from depending on your location
• Requires a cement board called “Densdeck” or a 72lbs. capsheet to  provide extra fire protection
• Considered a good investment if quality and durability are retained

Installations of wood shakes and other comparable products make up about 10% of the overall market.
